My painting seem to contain some piece of a deep memor, and as I paint, that memory takes shape. Often, it isn't until I have completed a painting that I recognize the place I have painted. They are the places I loved as a child, or the color of an unforgettable day.
I rarely work from photos. My work is painted in the studio and I always paint along with the changing seasons. I most always break the golden rule of never letting my subject find me. My approach is solitary and purposefully unstructured. The palette chooses me and I follow its lead.
The longer I paint, the more I understand my choices of color, shape and composition.
• I am simply a painter
• No rules
• No philosophy
• No style
• My paintings change like and with the seasons.
• I paint because it is what I do and who I am.
